Turkey’s antitrust board has launched an investigation into Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) to determine if the company is misusing its market position in online advertising through its “Performance Max” campaign.
According to a statement from the regulator, the investigation will focus on the campaign that allows advertisers to access all available ad space across the Google Ads platform through a single campaign.
Regulators will examine several key areas of concern. They plan to assess whether Google is leveraging its existing online advertising power to benefit its other advertising services. The investigation will also determine if the Performance Max campaign provides fair treatment to advertisers.
Another focus of the probe will be whether Google’s practice of merging data across its platforms creates obstacles for competition in the digital advertising market.
