China to host EU leaders for summit amid trade tensions

    China confirmed Monday it will hold a high-level summit with the European Union in Beijing this week, as both sides work to address trade disputes against a backdrop of global economic uncertainty.

    European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa will travel to China on Thursday to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to the Chinese foreign ministry.

    Chinese Premier Li Qiang will co-chair the summit alongside the European leaders on Thursday.
