The Israeli military conducted strikes against several tanks in a town in Syria’s southern Sweida province on Monday, according to a statement from Israeli forces.
The attack comes on the same day that six members of Syria’s security forces were killed in the predominantly Druze city of Sweida. These security personnel had been deployed to stop deadly sectarian clashes in the area, a security source said.
Local media reported that the sectarian violence had resumed in the region prior to the Israeli strike. The security forces were attempting to halt these clashes when they were killed.
